A space to celebrate all the wonderful moments of sound (in the cinema and beyond) that I'd love to write more about but just can't fit into any of my current projects. Also a testing ground for future work, and a repository of examples for use as a pedagogical tool.

This blog has a new home!
Check out the new digs over at The Schizophone. Sound Moments will continue to live as a serial amidst the broader range of sound-related postings on the new site.
In September of 2007 I acted as guest-editor on a special sound issue of the online film journal Offscreen. I began the editorial process by soliciting contributions to a forum in which ten authors shared some of their favourite sound moments from the history of cinema. While putting this forum together I had endless ideas for my own favourite moments to share, but having contributed work elsewhere in the issue I refrained from adding anything of my own to this section. But now that it's done I've decided to take the premise of that forum as the foundation for this blog wherein I will share my ongoing engagement with the cinema through an open-ended celebration of my personal favourite moments of sound in the cinema and beyond.
